A building permit is required before any excavation or construction can be initiated on the lot.

The city or county development office will have paperwork to complete and a fee will be charged.

A survey, plot plan, septic system plan, floor plans, and an approval letter from the health department are a few of the requirements to obtain a building permit. Each municipality may have different requirements.
